Sean at Home
Here’s another lengthy update (more for the purposes of my documentation than anything else).
Sean was four weeks old on Saturday, and I can’t believe it. Mommy, Daddy, and Sean are all doing well. Jason and I are certainly tired, but that’s to be expected.
When we left the hospital he was 7 lbs 5 ounces, and he was a little jaundice (his bilirubin levels where at 10). We had to go back to the hospital twice for further tests. The second day the bilirubin levels had jumped to 15, but the day after they were down to 13.4. At his first check up (August 28th) he weighed in at 8 lbs (so he was over his birth weight of 7 lbs 15 ounces). He is a healthy little boy.
Since then we have been adjusting fairly well at home. Sean isn’t the best napper, so he gets a bit overtired and fussy towards the end of each day. Overall, he is a happy baby (so far).
September 18th, was his first “outing” that wasn’t a doctor’s office or his grandparents’ house. We visited AJJ so he could meet my work friends. A few pictures below. Marty, the AJJ mail man, weighed Sean for me. My little guy weighed in at 11 lbs, 2.4 ounces!

Sean is HERE!

Sean was here and now he’s here!
I know this post is belated, but better late than never. The delivery went well (Praise God!) and little Sean is healthy and well.
On Saturday, August 22nd, at 1:17 am, my first contraction hit at the same time a very loud crack of thunder sounded. I labored at home until about 5 am, and then Jason and I went to the hospital. When I arrived, I was already 9 centimeters dilated! The nurses thought I was 6 centimeters (they had trouble telling), but when Patty (my midwife) arrived 20 minutes later, she confirmed that I was 9 centimeters dilated. At that point, she checked to make sure the Sean was in the right position, and he was not. So, we waited about another hour hoping he would move. Patty had to call in the anesthesiologist as she thought we were going to have to do an emergency c-section. (So, after I was through all of the worst contractions, I had to get a needle in my back anyway!) After receiving the epidural, Patty checked to see if Sean had moved, and when she did, my water broke, and she confirmed that he HAD moved. I was so thankful that we could deliver vaginally. I began pushing at 10 am, and Sean arrived at 11:20 am.
Sean is a true blessing – plenty of pictures can be found here: http://celty.shutterfly.com
The Tyrell Family – No Sean Yet
Well, today is the due date. Sean seems to be comfortable in my womb, but I really want to meet him. I want to look in his little eyes, and see what color they are. I want to know if he will have hair. I want to see his pudgy cheeks (I have a feeling he will be a chubby little guy).
I finally had some time to create a video of our family’s first few years. I need to practice these skills for all the videos I’ll be making of Sean’s big events. While making this, I was reminded over and over how immeasurably generous our God is. We are so completely undeserving of all the goodness He bestows on us. And, even had He not blessed me with a wonderful husband, a child, a loving family, a kind and serving body at Joy, etc. – He has blessed us with Christ. Christ – far better than all the good things we have or ever will receive on this earth. Praise Him!
When will Sean come?
It’s been quite some time since I’ve posted. I’m going to make an effort to post more regularly (and after Sean comes, once a week). I just had my check up this morning. I’m measuring 39 weeks, and Sean’s heartbeat is normal. After Monday (my due date), Patty said it’s up to us whether we wait for Sean to come or induce. Jason and I have decided we’ll keep waiting. If nothing happens by August 27th, then Patty said we should induce.
I’m not thrilled with “knowing” when the baby will come, or with the concept of choosing Sean’s birthday; however, I know the truth is that no matter how it happens – God has chosen his birthday.
I’m feeling pretty good. Other than having trouble sleeping at night (which will continue for many months) I have no complaints. This really has been a blessed pregnancy.
37-38 Weeks
This coming Friday (July 31st) is both the last day I will work in office and the beginning of the 38th week of the pregnancy. Many people are asking me if I am ready for Sean to come into the world. Here’s the truth – I am very excited to meet him, and will be so thankful the day Jason and I meet our son; however, I am quite content with him remaining tucked safely in my womb until August 17th (or September 1st even)!
I do have trouble sleeping at night (not because I can’t get comfortable). I have trouble sleeping because Sean kicks me violently about once an hour. I am thankful I have an active, healthy baby AND I see this as God preparing me for when I will be functioning on very little sleep. It’s starting now.
Other than that, I have no complaints – just the normal pregnancy discomforts (lower back pain, being tired). Overall, I have had a blessed pregnancy, and I am very thankful.
Yesterday I had my weekly check up. I’m measuring 37 weeks, and Sean’s heart beat is normal. Praise God!
The Tummy
My dear friend, Janet, makes me take tummy pictures. She does this because she loves me and she knows that I will appreciate it one day. I promised her I would post these, and so I have. Picture below of me at 35 weeks.
And, picture below at 37 weeks. Janet made these signs too.

33-34 Weeks
I had another check up this morning. I’m measuring exactly 34 weeks, and Baby Tyrell’s heart beat is normal. All is well – praise God!!
Jason and I are headed to Colorado on Sunday morning. I have a work meeting on Monday and Tuesday. Then, Jason and I will sight-see Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. We’re thankful we can have another little trip together before the baby comes.
Last Tuesday night, our mothers (Jason’s mom and my mom), came over and helped me get the nursery completely set up! Jason and I are SO blessed to have such a supportive family (both blood and church). A few pictures of the nursery are below. I hope to post later and include some pictures from the shower. I cannot express how grateful Jason and I are for the outpouring of support we have.

A Lengthy Update (31-32 Weeks)
It’s been a while since I’ve posted. Baby Boy Tyrell has been wearing me out (and I know that this is just the beginning). This little man can kick! I’d say he wakes me up about once every two hours during the night with a violent kick to my rib. While I don’t appreciate the kicking so much during the night, in the morning I remind myself that his kicking means he is alive and well. So, I won’t complain.
Health Update: My last appointment was on Friday, June 19th. Everything is right on track. His heart beat is normal at about 140. I was measuring exactly 31 weeks. According to their records, I was 31 weeks and 4 days (according to my calculations, I was 32 weeks exactly at the time).
Tummy Update: I am only doing this because Janet, my dear friend, has pressured me to.
This is a picture of me 1/2 way through my 32 week.
Name Update: Nothing. We have nothing. Still hoping God reveals this child’s name to Jason and I through a dream.
The Nursery: Tomorrow night, my mothers (Jason’s mom and my own) are coming over to help me set up the nursery. About two weeks before I found out we were expecting, I painted the room that will be Baby Tyrell’s a light chocolate brown color as I had planned on putting a treadmill in the room. Then, God surprised us with Baby Tyrell. So, I decided his room would remain brown.
Jason put the crib together about a week ago, and tonight we are going to go pick up a changing table and get that put together. That way, tomorrow night, my mothers can help me arrange the room and put things in order.
Baby Shower: As most of you reading this probably know, the baby shower that my wonderful aunt, mothers, and sister threw for me was on Saturday. What a tremendous blessing!! A post will follow in a few days with some pictures (the mothers had a good time making Jason participate). I am so so thankful for the support that we have from family and friends. God has blessed us beyond measure!
A Name!
Jason here for the first time in a while. That post title is surely an attention grabber, isn’t it? To tell you the truth, the title, “A Name!” carries with it some implications. For many of you who read this blog, you might think that I am going to use this post to tell you the name of our son. After much deliberation, after careful study and thought, after many conversations, this we know: naming a child is a big decision!
It is a huge responsibility to give a child his name. Throughout history, names were given because they signified something. Nowadays that is not as commonly practiced, as people give names to children because they sound good. Not that there is anything wrong with that at all, but I want my son’s name to have significance. So we cannot give him just any name
With that said, the task of name selection has been arduous, with a lot of fruitless discussion. Our son’s birth is drawing ever closer (Lord willing), and the heat from our family increases daily. With that said, we have to come to a conclusion: our child will have a name! Unfortunately for you, right now only God knows it. Hopefully He’ll let us in on the secret soon! And maybe we’ll share it with all of you.
